Description
With nearly 50 years of experience in the whisky industry, Billy Walker, who acquired the GlenAllachie distillery in 2017, decided to expand its single malt range with a line of blended malts that skillfully marry whisky from the island of Islay with whisky from the wider Speyside region. This gave rise to the Macnair’s series, which strikes a perfect balance between the smoke and peat of Islay and the sweeter character of Speyside.
The complex range of aromatic elements comes from the maturation the spirit undergoes, which takes place in Oloroso sherry casks, virgin oak barrels, and even red wine casks.
A rich nose of red berries, smoky oak, dried fruit, chocolate, and cinnamon. On the palate, milk chocolate is very pronounced, alongside a mix of sweet paprika and salted peanuts. The finish is long and smoky.
