The Ecclesiastical Wine (also known as Nama) from the Union of Samos Winemaking Cooperatives (EOS Samou) is a distinctive, historic sweet red wine. It’s produced with the official blessing of the Holy Metropolis of Samos and Ikaria and is intended chiefly for celebrating the Divine Eucharist, though its exceptional quality means it can also be enjoyed as a rich dessert wine. Its production strictly follows the church’s requirement of being made “from the fruit of the vine,” ensuring the absolute purity, cleanness, and full-bodied texture demanded by the sacred nature of its use.
